Quilt Donations for Wildfire Relief Efforts

In response to the wildfires occurring in California, several organizations are collecting quilts to be given to those effected by the wildfires. Eternity Quilt Events is collecting quilts to be donated to those impacted by the Camp Fire in Northern California. Sewing Arts Center in Santa Monica is also collecting quilts that will be donated to those impacted by the Camp Fire as well as those impacted in Southern California by the Woolsey Fire.

We will be collecting quilt donations at this Sunday’s (11/25) sew-in at Quilt in a Day, as well as at our holiday party on 12/2 that will be sent off to help with these relief efforts. Quilts can be dropped off with Kristyn at these two events and if you have any further questions, please email her at [email protected].

More information about the Eternity Quilts Effort can be found here.

We will be playing a fun game at the holiday party! You can win A BAJILLION Fat Quarters. It’s really easy, and TRUST ME. You want to play.

To play, all you have to do is bring two sets of Fat Quarters (Quilt store quality, please).

3 Fat Quarters that are low volume (read as one color, most of the time white or cream)

Still Weeks Ringle spots? What?!

Today, I thought I’d share some information about why we brought the wonderful Weeks Ringle to SDMQG!

On recommendation from several guild members, notably I-Chun and Chris B., we have heard from through the grapevine that Weeks Ringle teaches an amazing workshop class. Here’s a review of a class that the South Bay MQG had, and one from one of their members. They even write “This one comment broke through a creative wall I didn’t even realize I had.”. This is the type of feedback we have heard about her teaching; it’s not just a technique, it might change the way you approach your whole quilting adventure!

In case you’re not familiar with Weeks Ringle, her and her husband Bill Kerr founded The Modern Quilt Studio. The literally (and I mean this in the literal sense, not the millennial overemphasis sense) wrote the first book on Modern quilting. They’re pioneers!

Weeks and Bill are currently booking workshops for 2020-2021, so we would really love to see as many of your as possible take advantage of the visit in October. Here’s the link to the details for the lecture and workshop, as well as registration. Sue has ordered the patterns to Quilt in a Day an we’re getting 25% off! Score! I hope you can make it!
