Elections
Nominations for board positions will be out in September 2026. While we will vote on all five positions, two board members will retire from the board at the end of the year having served their two years. The positions are treasurer and secretary. Suzanne Coyne, our current treasurer, shared what the tasks are and the time needed monthly for that position. Elizabeth O’Toole shared the responsibilities of the secretary and the monthly time requirement. Anyone interested in either of those two positions should contact the president at sdmqgboard@gmail.com.
Holiday Party
Our holiday party will be Sunday, December 6, 2026 at 11:00 am at La Costa Oaks Clubhouse. Many thanks to Nancy for reserving the time and place for us!
Courtney asked members to donate new, unused quilting items for the holiday gift raffle. Think of things you have that you aren’t using that would delight another quilter. Donations need to be turned in by the October meeting so the board can determine how much remains to be purchased.
The Holiday Gift Exchange information and sign-up sheet will be coming out this week. Those interested in participating need to have their form returned by September 10, 2026. The list of gifter/giftee will be out September 17, 2026 giving people enough time to make or purchase a gift before the party. The gift exchange is optional!
Activities
The next workshop will be September 12 – English Paper Piecing (EPP) led by Courtney, Jen, and Allison. Beginners are welcome! The link to sign up via Zeffy was sent to members via email. Contact the board at sdmqgboard@gmail.com if you need the link sent to you.
The October workshop will be a large project bag that holds up to four 12” art boxes. This will be taught by Courtney. The sign up link will be sent to members.
All workshops take place at Grand Central Quilt N Stitch. Information for them can be found on our website under Activities.
Charity
Jen, covering for Kristyn, said this trimester’s focus on Just In Time is nearly over. If you have any group blocks, please turn them in at this meeting or contact Kristyn (sdmqgcharity@gmail.com) to coordinate turning them in. She will continue to collect quilts all year.
The next trimester focus is Moores Cancer Center. Watch for the charity email for more information.
You can find information on our website on each of the charitable endeavors.
Sew & Tell
This was another month of wonderful quilts, bags, tops. Many people who attended yesterday’s bag class with Sue Bouchard brought their bags to share. Sue made it easy for all of us to be successful!
Sue’s Quilt Tribe Sew-Along
After the meeting, Sue shared eight more blocks for the sew-along. She makes it all look so doable! She provides three block size options with all of the math already done.
Sew-In
Following the meeting, there is a sew-in for the afternoon. There is a second sew-in the 4th Sunday of each month. Come and join us!
