Happy Spring! Janine welcomed everyone to the April 13th meeting. We had three visitors and one new member today.
Announcements
Retreat – There are still two rooms available – one double and one single. The deadline for registering is Tuesday, April 15. Sign up now if you are interested. A survey will be forthcoming regarding future retreats. As the cost of the retreat continues to increase, members will be asked for input on other options regarding the number of days, other retreat centers, and whether a retreat is still a viable choice.
Other Wordly Activities –
- The San Diego County Fair deadline for submitting quilts is April 30.
- Aurifil 2025 Artisan Program applications are due April 25, 2025. See the Aurifil website for more information.

By-Laws – by-laws were presented with four areas proposed for removal, updating or adding (5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 6.1.3-3, 6.1.4-3,4, 6.1.6). Members voted on each of the changes. All four motions passed.
Activities –
Sewcialize is the focus for Quarter 2 activities and Quarterly Challenge. These next few months are full of lots of opportunities to gather and share our love of quilting. Make a friend, share and pattern, join a sew-along, bring a new person to the June guild meeting.
April 27 – Charity Sew In – Kristyn will have blocks to assemble, kits to make. Come and spend the day working on charity quilts. Let Kristyn know if you need anything specific long before the date! Quilt In A Day, 11am – 4pm.
May 11 – Mother’s Day Sew In – We won’t be having a guild meeting but come and sew at Quilt In A Day, 11am-4pm.
May 29 – Sew In at Quilt In A Day, 11am-4pm.
Charity –
Kristyn is collecting blocks for the Ronald McDonald House projects, finishing up the first quarter focus. Come to the April 27 Sew In to help!
Our next focus group (May-August) will be Just In Time, the program for 18-26 year olds who are aging out of foster care. The program helps them to become self-sufficient with school and housing. We support their My First Home project by supplying throw and bed size quilts. More information on this and our upcoming group project will be forthcoming in an email from Kristyn.
Gently Hugged – Shelly Hoffman shared that Gently Hugged needs gently used baby clothing, toys, quilts and blankets. These items are for the baby’s first year of life. The quilts should be 36×30 (no religious or sports teams).
Sew & Tell –
Once again we saw beautiful quilts, tops, bags, and jackets. There is so much talent in this guild!

Following the formal meeting, we had a rummage sale. Many people found fabric, yarn, books and more to add to their own stashes. A great time was had by all!
