Charity Sew-In This Sunday!
As a reminder, we are holding our first stand-alone charity sew-in this Sunday at Quilt in a Day from 10-3. During the “baby shower” we will focus on making quilts to support the Polinsky Children’s Center. This is a pot-luck event so RSVP in the SDMQG member forums and let us know what you plan to share.
There are a variety of ways to be involved at the sew-in. Alone or in small groups you can work on our sew-in projects: simple strip pieced quilts similar to this one. We also have several projects that we have put together to use up orphan blocks. Finally, hand-workers can help with labels and bindings, and we can always use help pressing and basting. All materials will be provided, just bring your machine!…and maybe some basting pins if you have them.
We also wanted to put out a big thank you to Julie (Jaybird Quilts) and The Warm Company for providing a roll of Warm and Natural batting for this event (and future charity quilts). Our other roll of batting is still MIA, so Julie arranged for the rush delivery of the donation from The Warm Company. Thank you!!
Finally, in response to questions from our members, we were able to confirm with the Polinsky Children’s Center that they will accept donations of new stuffed animals.
