Quiltcon 2017 Charity Challenge
As we have for the past three Quiltcons, the San Diego Modern Quilt Guild will be participating in the Quiltcon 2017 charity challenge. For Quiltcon 2017, the charity challenge is for member guilds or individual member groups to collaboratively produce a twin sized quilt using the designated color palette where scale is the design focus. The MQG provides several examples in the challenge overview of how scale can be interpreted in a design. You can read the full challenge overview from the MQG here.
The SDMQG board has approved a design and purchased the fabric as required by the challenge. Details of our project can be found in the Charity tab of the SDMQG member forums. Given the timeline of the challenge, we are looking to do the majority of the sewing for the quilt top in September during the sew-in following the meeting. However, to jump start our group effort we will also be asking for volunteers to pre-make block components from fabric packets between the August and September meetings (due at the September meeting). If you would like to help and can commit to completing the block components during this time, please see Jen C. during the August meeting to pick up a packet.
Jen C. will be serving as the SDMQG’s challenge coordinator so please feel free to let her know if you have any questions regarding this effort.
